Gaming facts ranked by how fake they sound (one is actually fake)
A tier list by abafa · filed under Gaming · published 25 September 2026
Ranked by how made-up each one sounds, not by how important it is. S: Atari really buried truckloads of games and consoles in a New Mexico landfill in 1983 (dug up in 2014), and Nintendo was founded in 1889 to make playing cards. A: Minecraft's creeper came from a pig model with its length and height swapped, and Tetris was written at a Soviet computing center. B: the Konami Code was a testing shortcut nobody deleted, and Pac-Man was always meant to have no ending until level 256 broke it. C: the first famous Easter egg was a programmer hiding his name because Atari didn't credit anyone - believable once you hear why. F: Space Invaders causing a national 100-yen coin shortage in Japan. Coin figures don't support it and the Bank of Japan and the Japan Mint found no evidence - it's almost certainly a myth. Full stories and sources on the abafaboy YouTube channel.
